If you haven't heard the sanctuary state bill will be signed by Brown soon .

L.A law enforcement is supporting it to keep their jobs of course .

It's ridiculous that Beck has the nerve to talk about this reducing crime when crime has been rising in L.A

Yes crime in the 90s was higher blah blah but L.A was also a lot less expensive then and many of the thugs got priced out to other areas .

This is a horrible thing for CA and L.A and will attract many more illegals here with these politicians rolling out the welcome mat for illegal aliens .

--

With Gov. Jerry Brown expected to sign Senate Bill 54 to make California a so-called sanctuary state, local law enforcement officials on Saturday expressed support and cautious optimism for the measure that would provide protections for illegal immigrants.

SB 54 recognizes what has worked in Los Angeles for nearly four decades," Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck said. "We have reduced crime by building strong partnerships with our communities, regardless of civil immigration status

You can reduce crime even more when you admit illegals bring in more crime than we already have and stop it in it's tracks using immigration laws instead of coming up with more and more ways to spend money to justify the illegality of it all.

I would rather deport transplants from out of state than illegals.

Police Officers don't lose their jobs because of the position they take on legislation where did you ever get that idea? What you don't want to, or can't, understand is that when undocumented people are in constant threat of being arrested or deported they will not report crimes and they will not agree to testify as a witness to a crime. THAT increases the crime rate and makes the job of law enforcement more difficult and more dangerous.

Not talking about regular officers, but police chiefs etc. If LAPD chief Charlie Beck started coming out and started disagreeing with the Mayor you think he'd keep his $300,000+ a year job for long?

I've heard that argument before but it's weak. Show me people that have been deported for reporting a crime. Also how do we know illegals are or aren't reporting crime if we aren't even keeping track of immigration status?
You say "that increases the crime rate" but you simply can't prove that.

The fact is this law will have criminals going back to the streets of CA rather than being deported.

As a former law enforcement officer you know that a good percentage of people that go back to the streets commit more crimes.
Of course they will say they are committing 'minor crimes' , but it's still crime. Also I'm sure you know that some people commit 'minor crimes' and in the future commit 'serious crimes'.
