I haven't queried real estate in Brentwood lately. My gut feeling is there aren't too many family suitable homes available in Brentwood for $150K to $305K (if I'm reading the above figures correctly). There probably aren't too many homes in Palmdale for that price either.
Where were Brentwood housing prices in that range seen?
I wonder if we're talking about two different Brentwoods (there's another one up north which might be a lot cheaper.) If so, this thread should be moved to the Bay Area or California forums.

Prices
Erm...... I talked about it with my hubby and we can spend up to $ 350,000 at the time, but this whole moving thing is possible taking up some years and by then it could well be something in the $ 500, 000 region, possibly..

You can't get a home in the Brentwood area of LA for even $500,000. If you are looking at condos that is another story, they are still over half a million. You couldn't get a condo for the original prices you stated. You must be referring to Brentwood in Northern California. Square footage for around 1500 in the Brentwood area of LA would cost you over a million for a home.

I studied english for about 8 years. I'm a secretary (international correspondence). My husband has an international accounting degree and is currently studying for a Master. It would help of course when he could get a job at an international firm, he's been offered a position at Michael Page and could maybe get transferred...

if you found housing in "brentwood" at that price (assuming your decimal points are meant to be commas), you were looking at the wrong brentwood. there is a city called brentwood somewhere in the boonies. the brentwood area of los angeles is very expensive. a million-dollar house there, if you could find one, would be a fixer.

Wow. You cant be serious? They have work visas you know as well as resident aliens who guess what...work. Stop trying to scare people away.
Also I think the OP could be meaning Euros when they say dollars their dollar value might be higher.
But I don't think Brentwood is that cheap

Nope...I mean Brentwood CA 94513. Not ZIP 90049 (if that's what you thought I meant).Example:
1869 White Sands Street, Brentwood CA 94513 - Trulia

I mean, that there are a lot of Americans living in The Netherlands. Business related I think. And students.
My 'long-time-ago-boyfriend' was from Chicago.. And before you ask: I'm married to a dutchman now, lol!

Yes, I mean dollars: $ 234,900 equals € 242,700
To us (my family and I) that's a bargain! House prices in The Netherlands are ridiculous, we live in a relatively small house with a tiny backyard and if above stated house was in this neighborhood, where I live now, we would have paid like at least € 600,000 (that's $ 940,870) It has to do with the currency , I have always protested against the Euro, before, we had guldens (guilders) and everyone was happy! As soon as the Euro entried, most retail business raised their prices, even a simple things as groceries doubled in price... We woudn't even THINK about moving to the US if my husband didn't have a Master in Science, (Financial). But The Netherlands is chaning fast and not for the better... (
