Finally the city of LA does something right! It’s almost like if they read our forums to get all the good ideas.

I wish they would’ve done it further out into the desert like Boron, California but this is a start!

LA county has arranged with Metrolink to grant free rides for the homeless in skidrow to Lancaster and then from there the Antelope Valley Bus Service will take them from there.

“Housing is 72% cheaper to build and mantain in the Antelope Valley and will provide more oppurtunities for those whom need psychological help here than anyone possible within the LA Basin. We are proud to start assisting to life of fellow Angelenos to return to society as law abiding human beings”
-Mayor Garcetti

It is a human rights violation not to provide homeless in places like the West Side and do so instead in Lancaster.

Wow! Unbelievable! I sure hope the fellow who just purchased my house in Rancho Vista doesn't hear about this until after escrow closes.

Why? Socioeconomic diversity in a given area is our strength. Right, RIGHT?

Where’s this 500 acres? Are they going to build any buildings to house these homeless?

That's great and all but I hope this isn't a permanent home for them; rather a half way house until they can get back on their feet. Are there any jobs that these homeless people can do?

I believe the OP is pulling everyone's leg.

Garcetti and the City of Los Angeles in general would never do anything as sensible as this.

But the Mayor said

""Every Angeleno deserves safe housing that they can afford — it is a basic human right."

It would be inhuman and beneath them to live in housing Lancaster . It's a human right to live in one of the most expensive cities in America.

Asking a homeless or poor person to live in free or subsidized housing in the Antelope Valley is pretty much a hate crime .
