Yes it's freedom of speech insofar as people are allowed access to view it, create it, and participate in it, but that doesn't mean it's free of restrictions. If that were the case, why can't teachers and school admin look at porn on their computers inside elementary schools? Why can't someone who works in the public sector pop it in the DVD player in the break room on their lunch hour? Why can't they take out ads on the sides of buses featuring explicit scenes? My mom's a librarian in VA and they don't allow this.

When I worked at Kinko's, they tried using filters on the computers when they were first connected to the internet and too much stuff got filtered out. So the filters were taken off and I don't think there were really any problems with customers looking at porn. In fact, the only case I knew of was when someone asked me why he couldn't close the windows because of popups. I had to go in there and close the window for him and it turned out the customer was looking at a gay porn site.

It was more funny than anything else, and the customer was embarrassed to death. I really felt sorry for him and I bet he never looked at porn again on a public computer.

It could be the library will simply get those privacy filters that go over the screen. Unless you're standing right there looking over the user's shoulder, you aren't going to have a clue in the world what he's looking at.

So you are one of those people who are against the constitution?

Reductio ad absurdum. You act as though there are not serious matters of concern and the right of porn is somehow absolute.

But according to the NBC report, they could see the screens even when standing to the side of the computer users.

Why not eliminate the screens and current seating configurations, and to ensure privacy, instead build privacy booths more like the 25 cent video joints so the library "customer" can watch his porn for free, and get his fap on? A mop person can be hired to clean up the floor thereby creating a new job (at LA taxpayer expense) and grow the economy. Winning!

I'm sorry I could only give you that one rep, because I'd give you a hundred if I could.

First they said it's porn, next it's political stability. China filters (and censors) their internet. You won't be able to download porn (moral hazard) but you also won't be able to Google Tiananmen Square in English or Chinese.

Censorship can go to the next step from filtering to propaganda. Googling Obamacare could pull up alt-facts/fake news exclusively in a Red State or glowing reviews in a Blue State. The censorship software could be nested in the filtering software and most average patrons would not notice!

We can easily argue in the opposite direction and claim that your interpretation of "freedom of speech" entitles a person to display their genitals to young children. What say you to that?
