Question Info about the following cites please...Culver City, Venice beach, ect...

Hello All!

I am a 22 yr old s/w/f and I am considering moving to LA. Currently I am in line for a new job that would require me to travel to various sporting events out of state approx 30 weeks a year. However, if I lived in LA, I could drive to 6 of the 30 events instead of flying. I do need to be somewhat close to to LAX so I am considering the following areas: Marina del Ray, Playa de Ray, Culver City, Venice Beach, Inglewood, Ladera Heights, West Hollywood and Downtown LA. What can anyone tell me about them? They all look (at least on a map) like they area fairly close to LAX, but are they safe, decent areas? I would like to be fairly close to West Hollywood for the nightlife aspect but again safety is an issue. My max rent budget is $1500 a month. Any advice on the those areas is greatly appreciated!

Btw, about how far are the above mentioned areas from Pomona? Random question, I know, Pomona is one of the cities I would be doing events in 2 time a year.

Thanks again!

All of those are pretty good except for Inglewood (gangs, crime, run down). Culver City west of the 405 and the Oakwood area of Venice aren't too good either. They're all around 20-30 miles away from Pomona at least and the commute would be really bad...

Pretty much agree with sgvkev. A little more info about what kind of "night life" you're looking for could be helpful. There's plenty of nightlife on the west side. Santa Monica, Marina del Rey and Venice. Playa del Rey would require a 5 min drive north or south. Depending on the type of night life you're looking for, the South Bay communities could be considered as well . . . Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach. However, the further south you go, the greater your commute time.

Safe, decent areas near LAX? You couldn't go wrong with El Segundo, but you'd have to leave the small city for any kind of a nightlife conducive to a 22yo. But the access to LAX and the 105 freeway certainly fit the other criteria. Good Luck.

There are only about a hundred posts about each. Try the "search this forum" and type in "Venice Beach" or "culver City" I'm positive all of your questions will be answered.
