Default I wouldn't move to Long Beach

I lived in Carson for 12 years which is 10 minutes from Long Beach. I now live in Austin, TX. I've been here a year and love it. Long Beach is too expensive and overcrowded. Every city has its gang problems. Just stay out of the bad areas, which are the west side bordering Wilmington and north Long Beach. Downtown is pretty nice along Pine Avenue. It reminds me of Austin's 6th street. Even there on weekends and nights there is too much gang activity.

I'm stuck in Long Beach. I've always lived in the rough neighborhoods of the city, occupied with gangs and thieves.

There are really some very beautiful areas in Long Beach: Belmont Shore, Belmont Heights, Wrigley, the areas that border Lakewood, Naples, the Highrises in Downtown, Bixby Knolls - in my opinion LBC is really a Tale of Two Cities - you really never have to venture into the rough parts for anything unless you make an effort to do so

I totally agree. I've lived in Long Beach off and on for many many years. Once you're living here you know where the bad parts are. If you want to relocate here stay on the south and/or east side and rent for a while and check it out.

You read post like this and it makes you not want to leave the house. Long Beach has a bad rep because it is huge and does have some gang activity. Rappers talking about the "LBC" doesn't help either.

Austin is beautiful! Long Beach is a dump. It was always a port....very industrial. Crime ridden, ghetto.
They only thing it has over Austin is the ocean, and again, it's ocean is full of big boats, not beach.
