well thanks for the advice everyone and I appreciate JTGJR putting it kindly. I fully expected a reply from someone like you, the instant I submitted the thread I knew someone would comment me on my grammar. But like you said this isnt a resume. Its a forum and B)it was 10:30 at night after a nine hour shift. Oh! Also I'm not trying to impress a single soul on here....You remind me of my english teacher lol....oh wait, thats the correct typing.... English...right? I am quite aware of any typos I do....its called spell check, I just dont really care here....but thank you, comments accepted and noted!. Getting back to the subject @ hand.
yea the whole guaranteed admission into ucla thing, would definitely have to check into that. Nothing in life is ever that cut and dry.
Charles, I hope you're kidding. You were supposed to be performing "safety calculations" and you decided to play basketball instead? lol horrible!
I think I know what the underlying point of your reply was but not positive about it
I am basing what school I will be attending by where I'll be living. Theres a big possibility Ill be living in sherman oaks. commuting to santa monica from sherman oaks, doesn't sound all too nice. Leave two hours before class starts.....But I'm not sure, that wouldnt be considered a horrible commute would it?

O ok. Here we go. I didn't really believe myself about the guaranteed admission, so I researched it. Apparently, it's just an extremely high transfer rate from SMCC to UCLA. If you don't want to read the article, I'll tell you it says that it says in 2002, 92 of 94 SMCC students were accepted into ULCA and in 2004, all 120 were accepted. Students that don't get accepted into UCLA, or that just don't want to go there, also go to UC Irvine, another very highly regarded school in SoCal. Irvine is a bedroom community far from the entertainment areas of LA, but I'm sure there are still journalism job opportunities in Orange County.

Regarding the guaranteed admissions to a UC. Yes, you can get guaranteed acceptance to a UC through a JC. I've pasted below information from ELAC's website regarding transferring. My understanding is the TAG agreement gives you a list of specific classes to take, and by earning a certain GPA (usually about a 3.2) you will be guaranteed admission to the school you choose.
Also, while UCLA and USC do not guarantee admission, they will likely accept you if you meet the appropriate requirement. I used to teach in a L.A. area high school for 8 years and had a number of students transfer to both SC and UCLA with 3.2's from their JC's.
It actually seems like a pretty great option for kids who did not realize their full potential until later in high school. Not only can you gain entrance into a high quality university, but under the system neither the SAT or ACT is required and high school transcripts aren't either. You are judged solely on your achievement at the JC. It really is a second chance that most students are not fully aware of.
Good luck with your educational endeavors...
Oh, all JC's also have articulation agreements with most private schools in the area which have similar programs. From USC and Loyola Marymount, to Whittier College and Biola.

* Transfer Admissions Guarantees (TAG)
Ensure your successful transfer by signing a TAG agreement with the following campuses
UC Davis UC Irvine
UC Merced UC Riverside
UC San Diego UC Santa Barbara
UC Santa Cruz
To sign a Transfer Admission Guarantee contract you must schedule an appointment to meet with a counselor in general counseling or schedule an appointment to meet with a counselor in the University Center.

Oh dang, I may have to do that now. If I went to SMCC, I could either get into UCLA or be automatically admitted to UCSB, my top two schools.

Pasadena City College is the best junior college in the state. The education there is just as good or even better than the UC and CSU systems. I'd say better, because professors teach the classes instead of TAs.

PCC may be the best, but I'd rather go to SMCC since they have such a high acceptance rate to UCLA. If I went there, I would almost definitely get into UCLA since I have a 4.0 GPA.
Well, you probably have your question answered. Go to SMCC, get into UCLA, be hired by almost anyone for going to such a high ranking school. Or, go to SMCC, be guaranteed admission to UC Santa Barbara or UC Irvine, and still be thought of highly by going to one of those.

the whole TAG concept is an awesome idea. People sometimes think that there is no way that someone like their self could ever get into UCLA or UCSB (esp if high school wasnt that great) but like someone else mentioned, peps get a second chance. Thats awesome. I am however undecided on if I will want to pursue my BA. *sighs*
