There is no shortage of old rundown industrial areas in LA. If they want to build shelters, put them there. And for those who get housed, should be put to work, for 40 hours a week (like the rest of us), cleaning up the city. At least we might get something in return, instead of it just being a taxpayer black hole. And if it fails, at least we don't have a cluster of them in a population dense area, so that when the occasional bad one loses its mind, an innocent person isn't stabbed on the Expo Line like we get here occasionally in Santa Monica...

Yeah if you get outside of L.A city limits or outside Santa Monica there is a lot of land in L.A County and it's dirt cheap compared to L.A or Santa Monica.

The reason people don't want the homeless near them is because they've proven to be bad neighbors. That's just the reality. Their crime rates are high. Whenever there is one of these random attacks like a stabbing or killing , now it's like "Oh a homeless person did it, no surprise" .

Makes you wonder how many attacks we don't hear about. With like 50,000 homeless in L.A alone there's a ton that doesn't make it in the news. Believe me if the news reported on all of them people would change their tune on the homeless.

"The homelessness crisis gripping Southern California is impossible to miss — and evokes many different emotions.

Voters in Los Angeles approved more than $1 billion to help provide more housing. At the same time, a proposal to build temporary homeless shelters across the city has sparked protests from residents who say it will ruin their neighborhoods.

The furor over shelters exemplifies a larger reality in the region: "

Those volunteers should let them sleep in their home, very easy problem to solve if they truly embrace them. What's so bad about letting 1 homeless sleep in your extra bedroom or couch?

They libs want to save the environment by blocking/limiting development and expansion, but we need that for affordable housing, and they want to add to the population with open border policy, which suppresses wages.

There's the solution! Criticize anyone who's actually trying to help this population, then group all people who do so as advocates of an open border policy. Right.

Ok.

Those volunteers should let them sleep in their home, what's so bad about letting 1 homeless sleep in your extra bedroom or couch. Imagine if 10,000 volunteers in DTLA took in just 1 person to embrace. They would accept them with open arms if they truly embraced the issue. How many volunteers are taking them in?

I think you already said that once, I didn't find it that interesting the first time. Is there a reason why you would repeat it?

All that "helping" and the situation has gotten a LOT worse....I guess they can't figure it out...or someone is making money on this...???
max210 is correct- the "helpers" need to take them into their own homes since what they are doing is OBVIOUSLY NOT helping .... and is, in fact, simply facilitating a disgusting mess.
Maybe a few helpers need to become victims like so many innocent people so they can see the light and help us get some nice facilities built and reclaim what dirty jerry et al have taken from our fair state and country. so sad-
