Default No Egg-Salad in LA (or has the Chicago Tribune finally lost it)

As I was reading the paper today on the subway, I came across this little gem.

"I am a native Chicagoan living in L.A. where egg salad is unknown."

Have the writers for our paper finally lost their collective minds under the new ownership of Zell (this would not surprise me)? Is that poor native out there just looking in the wrong spots, his brain having been addled by the sun and heat (while it is currently snowing here)? Or are you poor souls really deprived of a good deli egg-salad sandwich?

I realize that this is a question bordering on the absurd in its triviality, but I needed some levity today.

I don't know, but I have only had one from Starbucks since moving out here! I'm not a huge fan of that sandwich, though, so I'm not a great resource for this subject.

every supermarket with a well-stocked deli counter has egg salad, and many are equipped to make a sandwich to order for you. i don't see it much on restaurant menus nowadays, except at old-style jewish delis like canters, where it's probably one of only a handful of options for people who don't eat meat.

i like egg salad, but i eat it only once in a blue moon. too many sexier foods options out there!

Applepan in West Los Angeles, pico blvd, makes a very good egg salad sandwich.

You can make egg salad if they don't sell it anywhere.

This thread gets the "Stripped Phillips Screw Award" for finding a use for a thread previously thought useless.

There's this one restaurant on Robertsons and Beverly I believe, that serves Egg Salad. Not a big fan but it was pretty good.

Word.

Nor do we have authentic Cajun food. Shortly after moving here I ordered jambalaya in a restaurant that advertised itself as being Cajun, and they brought me shrimp on spaghetti. That just ain't right.
