Anybody looking forward to riding their bikes through skid row ?

Maybe they should work on clearing the sidewalks of tents and crackheads first ?

The vote came at the request of councilmember Jose Huizar, who represents Downtown. He said today that he’s thankful that neighborhood and bike advocates brought to his attention that the street is dangerous.

Right now there are bike lanes in several Downtown neighborhoods, including on Seventh Street—but those cut off right at Main Street, which is the western boundary of Skid Row.

Councilmember Herb Wesson called it “a tricky stretch” of the neighborhood to navigate.

“I had to hustle to get across the street,” he said.

A bike path through homeless encampments. Hmmm...sounds vaguely familiar...but what could possibly go wrong?

The X-games have already taken over the Winter Olympics, might as well start preparing for 2028 with that adventure ride.

I would drive many blocks around skid row to avoid riding a bike through skid row. It's not safe and it's unsanitary in anything not a bus or car.

So I take it you won’t be taking the new scooter out there to break it in?

If I was able to ride a bike - I certainly would not go through Skid Row because it is a mess and not clean. It is also very depressing. I would much rather ride a bike by the ocean or through beautiful scenery.

Maybe the bike lane is meant for the homeless residents? Homeless people deserve a bike lane too. That's how the well to do ones get around.
