Democrats hate cars, they have a ridiculous dream of getting people out of their cars and one way to do this is to make taking your car more inconvenient. Hence taking away car lanes with bicycle lanes which no one uses. Let me emphasize no on uses.
We pay for the roads and now this horrible inefficiency, waste of precious roadways , waste of taxpayer money, but the Democrats force their utopian dream on us no matter if it will never work.
People ain't riding bicycles. Old people and rich people ain't riding bicycles. No one uses these bicycle lanes.
I’m an old guy. Got quite a stash of money, to boot. I ride my bicycle all the time and use bike lanes.

Say, ever been to cities in Europe and Asia and Africa?

... and which increase in longevity has nothing to do with increasing pollution while decreasing physical fitness.

Eventually a critical mass will be reached and people will begin using bike lanes in higher numbers. The addition of these bike lanes will foster a cultural change to a more bike friendly city, it's just going to take time.

Cyclists don't feel safe? I guess you live in Santa Monica, take a trip over to Silverlake some time.

I see people wearing earbuds, going in between cars, running through red lights on a weekly basis. What I wonder is, are they just arrogant or stupid or combination of the two?

That goes beyond brazen. I don't get with Griffith Park right there, why they can't ride there? It sure would be more scenic and relaxing. For the most part these aren't people who are riding bikes to get to work, these are people riding in heavy traffic for leisure.

I am also amazed at the ones who ride at night, in dark clothing with no reflectors. The cars don't see you until they're on top of you in many areas.

My favorite one was a father with two very young children on their bikes on Fletcher Drive in the area between the 5 and 2 freeways at rush hour....just brilliant.

Yes. LOTS of arrogant and stupid cyclists. Just like arrogant and stupid drivers ... and pedestrians ... in fact, the whole human race leaves much question as to whether there is intelligent life on the planet.

That said, why should bicyclists be any different? There are roads for stupid drivers. Sidewalks for stupid pedestrians. Why not let stupid bicyclists have their share of mobility venues?

I did say "Every area I have visited that has a bicycle lane seems to been a good decision."

That includes NYC which is larger than LA.

I'm actually less than an hour away from NYC and visit (with bike) on occasion. NYC being the LARGEST city in the country. Arrogant drivers (and bicycles) don't negate the fact that certain traffic pattern/design decisions are still good ones.

At least my location is set.... unlike some...

I also find these bike riders to be getting more brazen.

They now lane split like the motorcycles are allowed to do. I have seen them go through red lights, I love the ones who wear ear buds...LOL..you need to hear what is going on around you.
So, to recap: Those horrible bicyclists should on no account have lanes allocated to them, nor should they be allowed to ride among the cars - is that the gist here?

I do. While I may not be rich, I do have a decent income. As for old, no comment whatsoever.

It's as fast as a car in traffic, much easier to park, way cheaper to own and a decent workout during time that's otherwise lost. And yes, I do also have a car, so I pay road taxes.

My point is in many places, probably most places there is one bicyclist per hour if that or one a day while thousands and thousands of cars who paid for the road are not able to use all the road because of Democrats wet dream.
It's the ultimate in ridiculousness.

Well sir, maybe if you and others like you stopped driving in the bike lanes ... more of us cyclists would enjoy them.
