I guess Koreatown is L.A’s new “red light district” ?
Used to be Hollywood but I guess it’s been too “gentrified”

From an article back in 2015 most of these young women are immigrants ..
Shouldn’t the la city council be rushing to protect them?
Maybe not the right kind of immigrant ?

In L.A., it's a misdemeanor for paid companions to encourage patrons to consume alcohol, and a legal violation for the businesses that hire or allow them. Because many of the women are from South Korea and don't have work permits, the job also flouts employment and, sometimes, immigration laws.

Instead of just issuing tickets for those business that are caught, police should also do something with people goi ng to the after hours, do something with the escorts, customers, everyone in the building.

Or the city just doesn’t care . Usually nothing is done unless a lot of neighbors and other business complain about it .

I know years ago there was a crack down on these Vietnamese “coffee shops “ in OC
The women working there would wear bikinis and supposedly prostitution going on .

OC Is run a lot different than L.A though

When I was younger (teenager ) I went to Thailand and the “karaoke bars” were like this too really a place to meet prostitutes . They even had these places in nice hotels too . I guess it’s just “multi culturalism” now that it’s come to America right ?

It is to the OP. For the police a sex industry without much actual touching of sexual organs is pretty low on the priority list
