Hollywood. What is good and bad about the city?
I'm planning on moving to Los Angeles in late August and the cities I've been considering are Hollywood and Burbank, due to the studios in those areas. I'll be looking for a job in the entertainment industry and I've read it's best to live where you work, so those places seem most plausible.
What are some pros and cons about Hollywood? I hear they're trying to revive parts of it. But was it that bad in the first place? Could I find a 2 bedroom for under $1500 in either of these cities?
Also, what are your thoughts on West Hollywood and the Valley?

If you want to be near the studios, Burbank is your best bet. What was bad about Hollywood was that drugs and the homeless took over. It became very rundown and dirty, but it was affordable so there were the decent but poor mixed in with the drug dealers. They've now gone to the other extreme of cleaning it up, but now it's unaffordable. I don't think you'll find a two bedroonm in Hollywood for $1500. Maybe Burbank or Glendale. Try craigslist: los angeles classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events Good Luck.

Thanks, I've been looking in the Burbank and Glendale areas too. I was just looking for something a little more central in LA. Although I don't think Glendale or Burbank are that far away, but I was hoping to avoid a commute if I do end up working in Hollywood.

There isn't much a commute from Burbank to Hollywood. They're only 10 - 15 min apart if traffic is cooperating.

if you're going to work in a studio, you will probably be in burbank, not hollywood.
