Olvera Street was a cultural field trip for our school, all high school freshman took the trip.

I came from a little desert town and we were poor but didn’t know it, so this was an exciting adventure. I remember the LA City Hall building being pointed out to us and we all thought it was the biggest building ever, lol.

I remember leaving and thinking how great LA was and that I would be back, and I was. But that was in another life.

I love Olvera Street. I'd go a lot more often if parking was such a PITA.

Default MExicans

Mexicans are white. Many have more European blood than Americans.

Ever see Jorge Ramos from Telemundo, he immigrated to the USA and lives in Florida.

Obviously, they tend to be southern European, i.e. Iberian, Italian, etc.

I loved going there when I was a little girl. Now I can only visit there by way of TikTok.

LA county is only 26% non Hispanic white and appx same for LA County. Hispanic is close to 50%.

There are all races that visit Olivera St,, but I’m baffled as to why you would not think Hispanic people would be the majority of the visitors.

I grew up in the Bay Area and as a child, my grandparents would drive us down to LA, to visit tourist attractions. We would often visit Olvera Street, Chinatown and Little Tokyo. I recall, it was my first time eating Mexican food, that was in the ‘70’s. Great memories.

We saw all types of tourists there.

I don't see millennial "whites" in SoCal avoiding Hispanics areas like maybe their parents and grandparents did before them, if anything its hip and trendy to visit these parts of town today. Heck, even Barrio Logan/Chicano Park in San Diego feels like it's turned into a tourist spot for the younger crowd of all ethnicities....

I don't think so, it's a popular tourist spot.
