Yea. . .a positive thread!

I want to add some more things I love. . .

The flower district (went there this morning and got an armfull (literally) of beautiful orchids and tropicals for less than $20!)

The Hollywood Farmers' Market

All the independent theatre venues

Horseback riding in Griffith Park

Clifton's Cafeteria (where else can you enjoy wonderful, inexpensive homecooked food sitting amidst a faux forest?)

The Arclight

An amazing collection of Frank Lloyd Wright houses, especially the Ennis-Brown

The Griffith Park Zoo

The Getty Museum in Malibu (you can take art classes there which are limited in size so you can wander this incredible replica of a 2,000 year-old Italian Villa)

Here's a link to more spectacular photos of our beautiful city of dreams. For those who have never seen LA before, it's really worth a view.

Some photos may take a while to download.

Those are great. Thanks for posting. I love that site btw. The architectural renderings of some of new buildings downtown are fun to look at.

Check out the Olympia Towers to be built on the southeast corner of Grand and Olympic (one block behind me!)

You have to scroll down a bit. . .

Yes, the Olympia Towers are awesome. They'll make a great addition to the skyline. I'm thinking of investing in downtown housing after I sell off some property on the East Coast. With LA Live, the Grand Avenue Project and all the other high density development taking place, the downtown market will only get hotter.

Good for you! My*home in Mid-Wilshire (that's been on the market for a month) is just going into escrow. Right now I'm leasing in the Packard Lofts on Hope (great 1200 sq. ft. space with 13' ceilings and a western view). I'm looking closely at buying into either the Roosevelt or Evo.

Downtown is definitely hopping.

What made you decide to sell? In what area of Mid Wilshire did you live?

Default Missing it...

You guys listed a lot of great things and those pics are superb. I was stupid and moved away from L.A. and when I came back, I said I'd never leave. I left again and have been really bummed for over three years. I miss:
*Pasadena. It's incredibly beautuful. I lived in Old Pas and walked to everything.
*Swap meets and thrift stores. You guys don't know how good you have it. Move away and you can't find anything decent if you're a junque or antique collector. It's all crap if you can find it and very expensive.
*Tolerance and conversation. I live in stupid central. I miss likeminded individuals to sit down and have a cup of 3 buck coffee with.
*Eclectic coffee houses like Equator.
*People watching in Venice/Santa Monica Pier/Promenade
*Long, long beaches with long, long bike paths. Sounds strange coming from someone who lives in Hawaii but on this side of my island we have crappy, tiny little beaches.
*Weather. Also strange coming from someone in Hawaii, I'm sick of the rain and the steamy heat. I'm also sick of all the bugs.
*Discount stores. Be thankful you've got 'em.
*Reasonable gas and groceries
*Auto spas. I'm sick of washing my own car.
*Cool movie theatres. I love the Chinese. Universal Citywalk has late movies as well as the IMAX.
*Cool cars. I haven't seen a Ferrari in 3 years.
*Watching sunsets at Redondo Beach.
*Concerts at Staples
*Live music 7 nights a week
*Live theatre 5 nights a week.
*Watching 747's take off next to LAX
*People who will work for cheap and work their asses off.
*Good Mexican food!

What I miss most is the unique vibe of L.A.
There's no other place like it. I'm completely homesick and can't wait to be home next month!

Sunsets at Huntington Beach (okay, I cheated and am including an OC spot LOL)...

Surfin' in the morning before work...

Biking outdoors all year round and racin' in the sun

Wahoo's Fish Tacos...

Seein' all my bands at House of Blues...

Yay! Can't wait to move there!

Smile Angel Bear...

Your location says you're bound for O.C. Are you originally from So Cal? It sounds like you're very familiar with it. I know right now you're out of state (Midwest?). When do you expect to be out here?

Hope things work out for you! Merry Christmas.
