I am looking at some houses in this area. Does anyone live around this neighborhood? Can you please give any input on how it is like now? I assume it is OK to walk around during the day? What about at night? I did some research on crime on LA time and it look like this area actually has got less crime than hollywood area. You can walk around Hollywood at night and it seems OK. But it seems everyone does not think it is good idea to walk around here. Thanks!

Google streetview tells me there is no shortage of ethnic barber shops/hair salons and weed stores on that block. And I do see people walking on the street

@RanchoSantaFeOrBust If an asian or white person walking around this neighbor, i meant for anyone who the local people can tell is not from around the block, would any one give us trouble? I read story about people just pulled up and shoot someone for no reason. Can we be caught up in a crossfire? I dont really think it is that bad, but just something to worry about with all the headlines and shootings going on. I also think walking during the day time should be ok, but what about at night? What your experience like living here?

Probably Reginald Denny almost getting killed 11 blocks north of you. When I was assigned to the area in 1999 the 90044 zip code was the murder capital of LA and a quarter of the zone was in unincorporated County areas so those murders didn't count. I am not sure about 90047 side but east of Normandie around the Crenshaw Christian Center former mega church was among the better, safety wise, routes in the zone. But then I have been gone almost 15 years now.
