Also, I've been stuck in a traffic jam at 3am on the 5 in L.A....Ill never forget the rage that built up inside of me! "You gotta be kidding me! It's freaking 3 IN THE MORNING!" LOL

I was thinking that same thing one time about 20 years ago coming from a friend's place in Culver City, going back to my home here in Lakewood on the 405 going south. Going through West L.A. at that hour (3:00 a.m.!), the freeway was STOPPED. It didn't start moving at a more reasonable speed until I was past LAX. I could remember getting home around 4:00 a.m., going to bed and not waking up until around 12:00 noon (this was a Friday night going into Saturday morning, so thankfully I didn't need to be at work the next day. )

I'd say the 101. It's busy all the time and usually gridlock on some parts 24/7

The 5/10 where they are going along together has to win some kind of prize. Actually any place where the 5 meets another freeway, they both seem to lose.

Traffic wise I agree, with the 5 (the applicable stretches of it) a close second.
Safety wise the Pasadena Fwy, hands down. Those on ramps!

I'll vote the 405 followed closely by the 101, but that's because both are in my neck of the woods and I have to deal with them more often (without the subway, I'd probably never go down into Hollywood or Downtown.) I certainly couldn't argue with people who've been caught in the viaduct parking lots of the 110, the 210, the 10 or the 5, though...I've crawled through all of them at some point.

Living in the Bay Area, there are people who claim traffic here is as bad as Los Angeles.. it's not even close. There are horrible spots, but there's nothing like the 405 here. The worst is the "Macarthur Maze" where I-580, I-880, and I-80 all join at the Bay Bridge toll plaza.. and then there's Highway 4 which is 20 miles of unmitigated pain between Concord and Oakley. In my neck of the woods, the metering lights have taken a lot of the pressure off 101. Unfortunately, it now takes 20 minutes to get on even if you live two blocks away.
