Looks like the closest ones around L.A are in Downey or Pasadena , so not too close for most people Iím la .

I used to hear the ads growing up but there were never any stores around .

Why would Amazon open their own store, when they have Whole Foods?

Sounds like this will be cheaper than Whole Foods. Not everyone shops at Whole Foods, they seem to want to make the grocery business a bigger part of their business.

Data:
WMT - 5 year price increase 67%

Why do they need to open a grocery store? Haven't they dominated the planet ten times over already?

Amazon should look for less developed areas; L.A. has been overcrowded for a long time.

If Amazon opens a store anywhere in LA, it's going to be a dense, high-traffic area first. Think: Woodland Hills/Topanga, Glendale, West Hollywood, Burbank or Culver City.

Then, if successful, more to follow in other areas nearby.

Could be Amazon is negotiating for the unfinished target building in Hollywood,@ Sunset and Western.
It was never finished, and looks like hell.
Surely Amazon has the funds to finish it, and put in a huge supermarket.
