We're exploring a move to SoCAL. We LOVE Yorba Linda, but the jobs may be in LA County (Prob El Segundo or Northridge but still a big unknown).

Are there any towns/neighborhoods in LA County that are similar to Yorba Linda? Preferably within an easy drive to Glendale/Pasadena, where good friends live. Convenience to West Covina is a bonus.

Looking for a suburban town, safe, family-friendly, good schools, bigger (not bungalow) single family homes for less than $1M, convenient to big box retailers (e.g., target, home goods, grocery), ~30-ish minutes to culture/nightlife for nights and weekends, parks/greenery/trails, wide roads, etc.

Equestrian activities nearby not required but a plus.

Any suggestions? I've been told maybe Porter Ranch or Bridgewater/Valencia...yes/no? Any others?

Thank you!

Sierra Madre and Monrovia are my personal faves.

Maximilist - those areas all seem largely well over $1M for bigger / newer 3-4+ bedroom SFH...am I looking in the wrong areas?

Thank you Kttam186290! Monrovia looks like it could work, but Sierra Madre seems to be $1-2M+ for 3+ bedrooms...does that sound right?

La Habra, Whittier, Glendora, Claremont, Arcadia, Sierra Madre, Monrovia, Montrose, North Glendale, Burbank, Walnut, Diamond Bar...

La Canada/Flintridge will be over your budget, unfortunately...

Yes. Santa Clarita checks all of boxes. Commute to El Segundo would probably be soul crushing most of the time. Commute to Northridge would be ok

If they were looking for strictly suburban (and nothing else), I'd agree. But they seem to want the older, established feel of a suburb that is leafy and condensed.

To me, that's not Santa Clarita unless we're talking a couple of older streets in Newhall. And, at that point, you're not getting the feel of "being close" to the rest of L.A.
