Anyone noticing the increasing cost of food at restaurants? It seems like take out food that was $9 just a few years ago is now like $11.50. Maybe this is what the higher minimum wage does. Anyway I'm not eating out as much. Do you not eat out as much? As a result, EVERYTHING is going to get more expensive.

Raise of wages equal raise of of items on the menus. Simple as that.

A few years is a long time my friend. Imagine how much rent has increased in LA in a few years.

Food prices have gone up faster than the rate of inflation. LA's raising of the minimum wage was artificial. There's consequences. People will eat out less. Other goods and services will get more expensive. It's simple economics.

Definitely. Even 20% jumps seem pretty common . Definitely gone up a lot even the last year or so .

Mostly tied to the very big jump in the minimum wage . In L.A it will be $15 next year.

In just 2016 it was about $10 .

Of course wage increases aren’t the only thing but labor is a big thing. This is why we are seeing more automation and these fast casual concepts where you order at counter , pickup your own food , pour your own water , etc

I think we will see less restaurants and that won’t be good for restaurant workers of course . Min wage affects other types of businesses too but restaurants are so labor intensive .

I think raising the minimum wage has something to do with it, but with the cost of living in LA what we pay for food is a bargain.

I don't eat fast food, but I have noticed that restaurant prices (mostly low-end ones, but even a lot of the mid-range ones) have jumped up quite a bit. This has happened across the entire state and I think it's definitely due to the minimum wage hike. For the most part I do have to agree with a previous poster that it's still a bargain, though.

Very high volume . They definitely earn every penny as all the locations are busy pretty much nonstop .

They also have very high standards so their employees are more efficient .

Go to IN N Out and then a typical fast food place there is quite a difference .

IN N OUT and Chick Fil A have a similar customer service experience with Chick Fil A probably being a little bit better .

Both are Christian companies, which helps.
