Los Angeles can easily be a city of broken dreams. From fierce competition, lower than average wages, stressful housing and traffic situations, and a general tendency for people to use each other and be flakey, this can add up to not such good news. Anyone seen the price of gas lately? Anybody's rent gone up to the point of adverse debilitation? Anybody get home from work, and have to wait 30 minutes for street parking to open up? Anybody have a situation like Cerritos, where you have to register for one night of overnight parking on any city street? Feel free to share your experiences.

Give it a rest, bro. While you’re at it, get a life.

No, I like LA. No major issues with it. If I didn't like it I would go somewhere else instead of spending all my time complaining, but really the only other cities that have similar appeal to me are Honolulu and San Diego.

In DFW we are 10 years behind where L.A. is. Of course it's a different place but there are similarities of what's happening.
1) The locals who already own housing love it. They have an easy lifestyle and their house prices just keep going up and up. And if you are retired getting SS income or pension, or have a corporate job, you can keep up with inflation.
2) Meanwhile millions and millions of people from all over the country and world keep moving in. Everywhere becomes crowded, traffic increases without end. Wages for service level jobs are kept low. Competition increases. Nobody likes or gets along with each other.

And there's no end to it. So you keep up a smiling face, saying, "I live in one of the best cities in the best country" and year after year your life slowly passes you by. You realize you are never going to be rich or famous. You realize you never had a sense of community. You realize you worked and worked and nothing came of it. And one day you wake up and 10 years are behind you and everyone you know is either doing drugs or suicided in mid life, and the crummiest, most self serving people imaginable are sitting on millions, billions, trillions of dollars.

It's called the American dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.

That sums it up well. Oppressive taxation is debatably the biggest issue along with being a sanctuary state. They keep picking our pockets, not taking care of our own, etc. The worst of it all is that people actually believe in this garbage.
