Looking for a place to rent and found a place between West El Segundo and South Vermont Avenue.

I am not familiar with the area.

Specifically, around the area of 812 West El Segundo, Gardena, Ca.

Is this area safe to live? Anything i should know-such as crime/gangs?

Is this area a part of Gardena,Ca or part of Harbor Gateway?

W 800 is west of Vermont Ave so you are not in the City of LA. El Segundo is the border line so I am not sure if 812 address is in the actual City of Gardena or in unincorporated LA County administered land to the north of the city. Since you are in the 90247 and not the 90044 zip code I would assume it is actually part of the city of Gardena.

I did work near that area in 90044 about 15 years ago but have no recent knowledge.

Thank you.

I am just concern about gang violence and drug problems. I see several places(home and apartment) have barred windows. Also, i see people leaving furniture out. Is this an indication of a bad area?

When you work there 15 years ago, how was it then? Anything i should know or be concerned about?

Sure it was the last spasm of ultra violence before things got better overall in the city gang wise. In fact the year I started working there the 90044 zip had the largest amount of murders in the city of LA and a quarter of the zone was outside the city limits so the murders in the county did not count. The black gangs were getting smaller and Latino gangs and tagger crews were increasing in relative power. And the gangs from the two ethnic groups rarely crossed paths violently.
