Default need some advise (might be moving to LA)

I am currently living in San Francisco and wanted some insight on living in and around the LA area. No real reason other than I just feel I need a change of environment and getting tired of the cold weather here.
As far as what I do for a living, I’ve been in the IT environment for the past 10 years but always wanted to try something new. I enjoy riding my motorcycle so that may be a + when it comes to going around with all the traffic in LA.
So what’s the culture like and who lives where. I’m Asian so I would like to live in an area where most Asians live. The Bay Area is an expensive place to live and always heard that LA is cheaper but not too sure how true that really is.

thanks in advance

LA is marginally cheaper than the bay area. The actual city of SF is more expensive than LA, but there are certainly parts of that rival SF, for better or worse. There are obviously a lot of Asian people here too. Each ethnicity has its own neighborhood(s) spread all over the region. As for your motorcycle, that will definitely come in handy. Traffic here is even worse than what you are dealing with if you can even imagine that.

What type of Asian are you? There two large concetrated areas called Koreatown and Chinatown. You may have heard of Little Tokyo but I don't believe anyone but homeless people actually live there. There's also a large concentration of Cambodians in Long Beach. If you are trying escape the cold, you want to stay away from the beach. (but you probbly already know that)

for better or worse, know what you mean as there are too too many in SF. but again I still prefer to be close to the Asian community. Traffic in LA Hum Yes I know from the last time I went down south. was always told to work as close to work if possible from everyone.

You really need to get out more often- where do you get this stuff?

Just get to 2nd and Central and you'll see who lives (and shops and eats, etc.) in Little Tokyo. The area has taken on more non-Asians lately with all the lofts and apartments, but it still a destination for Asian tourists and home to Nisei (first generation Japanese born abroad). In fact, the Nisei Festival is great- highly recommended.

To Nick, I get out plenty. If you read your own post you'll see that you support my statement that Little Tokyo is not a place where Japanese people live, they visit.

To the OP, you asked where the concentrations were, and I told you. I wasn't try to offend you. From your post, all you say is that you are Asian so I told you where there are two high concentrations of Asians. There are Asians all over L.A. Good Luck.

I've posted this tool before. It is a Tiger Map of 2000 Census data (yes, it is a bit old). You can change the theme. The theme I am posting is %Asian. You can chose other themes too from the drop down box. Usually, Census Tracts is a good resolution. Block Group resolution seems to strain the server and it may konk out.

So, in this case, the darker the green, the higher %Asian.

if you are talking to me, I am not offended what so ever. I don't want this tread to turn into some sort of racist argument.
LA to me is so spread out that I wanted to know where I may fit in the best and fun some have at the same time. Overall I guess it will come down to where I can find a job.

Jeez, that wasn't my intention at all. I took exception to the write-off of LT as some kind of 'homeless' haven, that's all.
