I work in Century City as well and I live near Pico and La Cienega. It takes me 15 min with no traffic and up to 30 min with traffic. So you could comfortably live in the Fairfax district, Miracle Mile, Beverly Hills adj, West Hollywood, westside: Westwood or Brentwood without having a headache commute. The only name of a building that I know would be Park La Brea, but you can use craigslist: los angeles classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events or Free Los Angeles and Orange County Classifieds - Recycler as resources or if you don't mind paying a fee, Apartment Rentals in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego. Good Luck.

for OC style safety in LA, you will be paying a huge premium. Neighborhoods like Brentwood and Westwood are very safe, but 1br condos in those hoods start at about $500k. The west Valley is fairly safe, Woodland Hills is somewhat similar to Irvine. Otherwise, you need to get out to Calabasas and Thousand Oaks which are pretty far from Century City.

Anything West of La Brea and North of Pico is resonably safe. The closer to the hills or beaches, the more costly it gets. That really doesn't narrow things down but it gives you a good idea of where to look for an apartment. |

brinSM,
coming to your response, howlong do you think the commute from Thousand oaks be to century city? will it be same as from irvine to century city? (it takes me 2 hrs in peak traffic. i was wondering if the commute is just as bad from thousand oaks or other places like calabasas which are safe i am better off staying put in irvine. |

A coworker of mine lives in Westlake Village (next to Thousand Oaks) and commutes to Century City everyday and he said that his commute takes anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half each way. Calabasas is even closer than Thousand Oaks and the west Valley communities are even closer than that. I honestly think that you're better off moving to LA somewhere if you plan on being at your job for a while, especially considering gas prices. There are a lot of people on this board who can give you good advice about the west San Fernando Valley and the Conejo Valley.

why would you consider someplace as far as calabasas in order to commute to century city? do you know where century city is? all of the most desirable westside neighborhoods are within 1-10 miles of century city, and most are within your budget if a one-bedroom apartment is what you're seeking. what, exactly, are you looking for that can only be found in calabasas...or irvine? does the entire city of los angeles frighten you?

los angeles would not frighten me if i am a bachelor i am married and want to settle close to work if possible, however safety is the highest in my priority list, i visited santa monica it looks good but there are lots of homeless, also i noted most of the apartments in LA are like hotel rooms(not airy) if you look in orange county /san diego apartments are more airy, my wife prefers those kind of apartments, if you know of any good apartments please name them or tell the cross streets i will go and visit them this weekend.why do we need to pay for westsiderentals.com? how different is the site from rent.com,apartments.com or other free sites ?i was wondering if i could save the 60$ if it is not really worth it. so please let me know of good apartment communities.
