Default MTA proposes cutting bus lines

Dozens Of Bus Lines Cut Back, Eliminated Under MTA Proposal - KNBC-TV - MSNBC.com (broken link)

in the end, the mayor whined and they didn't do it, claiming they'll "make cuts elsewhere" to pay for the bus service. of course, in the very next sentence of the news report, they mentioned a proposal to increase the sales tax by .5% for same. i'm just thrilled at the prospect of paying higher taxes to fund a bus system i don't use, and don't plan to use, because the MTA board is too chicken-**** to eliminate routes that they admit are underused, and losing money. if it's failing, let's fund it!

I thought that the article IS saying that they are cutting routes.

"The proposed cuts, which would eliminate some 215,000 bus service hours annually, would mostly take effect in June.

The cuts are just the first round in a proposed series of reductions in Metro bus service. About 200,000 more service hours are scheduled for elimination by December."

They are going to cut bus routes, just not the ones originally proposed. MTA has to decide which ones to cut.

i'm not sure what part of that is confusing you. they held the meeting today (after the writing of the article), and voted against the cuts.
