Best places for single young professionals?
I'm considering moving to LA and I'm wondering where the best places are for single young professionals? I am looking for an environment that is safe, nice, and where there are lots of educated, ambitious, young professionals in their mid 20s to early 30s.
I currently live in an area which is primarily family-oriented and have found it challenging to meet people with similar lifestyles, etc. If LA isn't the ideal city, where should I move? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi confusedyp...i'm in the same situation as you were and was wondering whether you made the move and had some advice for a safe area in LA with educated, ambitous young professionals?

Good question:
Los Feliz/SilverLake/Echo Park .
Hollywood Hills, West Hollywood.
Santa Monica, Culver City.
Factor in your commute and your budget then go on a reconnaissance mission to the various areas.

Venice, Silver Lake and Los Feliz if you're into art, mom & pop shops, and laid back bars.
West Hollywood and Hollywood if you like clubs and a fast pace atmosphere.
Santa Monica if you like being by the beach but also like a less gritty suburban lifestyle.
These are the areas where I've seen most young people hang out. I'm sure there are other districts that might fit your needs, but try looking here first if you can afford it.

Thanks stuffavail and Perkins Well. I've heard that there are alot of young professionals living in Miracle Mile? I'm looking for a walkable area, preferably with a city feel. I really appreciate your input.

Don't forget about Pasadena, Eagle Rock, and downtown.
There are ambitious, educated young professionals living in walkable neighborhoods all over the LA area, so I'd start by considering job location and then work from there.

Thanks uptown_urbanist. I will be working in Manhattan Beach and don't mind an hour commute (with traffic). Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I'm 30, single and living in Brentwood. For me it's a great place to live. Lots of people close to my age and Brentwood is great for walking.
