Everyone,

For relocating to LA for a new job in Santa Monica, I
am looking for suggestions on locating a good apartment.
I am single with no children, with a budget upwards to
the $2000/mo range (of course, always looking for
less if possible). As with many other such entries,
relatively safe location, as well as a decent commute
time (30 minutes perhaps, < 45 minutes preferred).

My search on apartmentratings.com seems to
provide limited options when considering higher-rated
apartments.

Any recommendations for specific apartments, as well
as effective strategies for finding a good apartment
(web sites, professional locating services, etc...)
is greatly appreciated!

Hmmm...

What about realtor.com, apartments.com, move.com or even Craig's List?

You could also enlist the help of a realtor -- we have done that in the past.

You shouldn't have any trouble finding a place within your budget.

you can live right in santa monica for $2K/mo. check westsiderentals.com. $60 to join, but worth it, in my experience.
