Any optometrist can check your eyes and write you a prescription. Even Walmarts have them.

There's a great place that's cheap in L.A. on Crenshaw near 29th (across from McDonald's). I got a year's worth of contacts for $120 and the eye exam was $40. They also have glasses in an hour for less than $100.

I have also found Target to be a good place to use the optometrist.

Hello,
I would suggest you check out the following site which can offer a referral:
EyeHelp.org
That site is recommended by the California Optometric Association.
Personally, I don't look for "walmart bargins" when it comes to my eyesight.

Lense Crafters, Walmart or any optomestrist will do the job. Do a search for eye doctors in your immediate area.

I will stay in Santa Monica while in LA. Probably will rent a car though.
