i dunno....i have a friend who moved from cincy to san diego back in the summer.i will be visiting him when i come out this spring. i will also take a look at san diego. i just figured LA would be better because ive already been there and seen it and liked what i saw minus the traffic.

what are some other socal areas that i should look around in? it has to be something somewhat similar in regards to what it can offer in comparison with the LA and surrounding areas....ie culture, things to do,restaurants, clubs, recreation, beaches, etc etc. let me know, im all ears

boostin4drcivic:

Based on your price range for apartment rent you mentioned, and your request of an area thats close to LA, but not in LA proper, and close enough to everything, including the beach within 1.5 hour drive, I'd recommend old town Pasadena. Its a much better area to live, with more entertainment, restaurants, nightlife, etc. than Torrance, Culver City, Inglewood, Fox Hills, the San Fernando Valley, etc. Also probably a shorter commute, if you happen to work in or close to downtown LA. West LA might be too "LA" for you, as you'd be right in it, and you'd have all the city traffic, congestion, etc., and it would probably be right at the upper edge of your price range. But like others said, its best to drive to all these places and decide for yourself when you come out here to visit. But I highly recommend the "old town" part of Pasadena.
