I turned my head away at one point for about five seconds, then turn back toward the line to see somebody standing in back of the person I was standing behind, at a 45 degree angle in the other direction. Now, this person wasn't foolish enough to push the issue, and I did get to the cashier before her, but why do I need to put up with this nonsense? Similar things have happened before, the worst was at Costco where this little foreign guy did something similar to what happened to me at Albertson's and then looked at me like I was the one trying to cut in. Is it too much to ask that people simply stand behind the person who was in line before them?

Could this have been an innocent oversight? What is more likely? Someone cutting ahead of you (ahead of the last guy in line, not too much of a conquest), or someone who just flat out didn't have situational awareness?

What I hate is when your in the express line, where I go its 14 items or less, and some one has a very full cart. You will hear grumblings from me and others when this happens. One lady decided that she would buy 14 items and her kids would also buy the same to take care of the problem. This made it even worse. Why can't people just use the correct line. Another problem that this example brings up is when a large family is in the store. I have seen families post someone at a register while they all split up with carts. All of them get back with the loaded carts and guess what? The family member that hijacked the line lets them all come in. Told my wife that we are going to start doing that because the store doesn't do anything to stop it.

Someone had mentioned Costco. OMG Costco and Sam's Club are the absolute worse, and the apathetic employees don't help. It p*sses me off to no end, but I refuse to be rude myself. It would just make me no better than the people who have no respect for order.

What bothers me are those people who grocery shop like the end of the world is coming. They fly through the aisles.. and god forbid you slow them down... they will give you the death stare! They need to chill out!

Hmm.....Im on the defendents side. Why would the person walk all the way by you and then turn around and stand behind you. Since you broke the straight line going backwards, where was she to go? stand in the middle of the line of the next cashier? she stood the same way you did cause it was easier and less in the way. she had no intention on going ahead of you I bet...yeaaa i see unnecessary bashing. Either I have your story mixed in my head wrong or the layout is different then what I gathered.....otherwise....I am correct on this matter

Look at the bright side...supermarkets are often filled with hot moms.

I hate when you get in line behind someone with a couple of things and just as they get to the cashier their whole freakin' family shows up with arm loads of junk. Half the time they aren't even all paying together so you have to wait while 2, 3 or even 4 different sales are rung up.

She should have gone behind me because it's the civilized thing to do, and the reason I was standing where I was, as I stated, was to avoid blocking an aisle. Quite often lines at supermarkets sway in one direction or another to avoid blocking ailes

I think this is one of those situations where you had to be there. The best or not the best intentions could have been at play here.
How about the people that stick their hand directly into the food bins where you can scoop and bag nuts, candies etc. I haven't bought anything from one of those self serve containers for a long time as I saw, first hand, an older woman perusing the candies while casually scratching herself. She then reached into the bin with that same bare hand and grabbed some chocolate covered raisins.
