I'm new to CA, only been here for about two months. I'm currently in Riverside county and I'm not feeling it. I will be moving to LA sometime within the next year or so and I just have to settle on driving there once in awhile on the weekends to entertain myself. If there is anything fun to do in Riverside PLEASE enlighten me. LOL

I love music and enjoyed going to local venues. Are there any clubs/lounges that play mainly R&B/Neo-Soul music? Any venues that have local acts? I like India.Arie, Musiq Soulchild, Kindred, Kem, Conya Doss, Jill Scott, Raheem Devaughn, Corrine Bailey Rae, John Legend, Joss Stone....you get the idea. LOL

I really appreciate any help, I'm dying of boredom over here in Riverside. HELP!!!

Welcome to Cali, So you're in Riverside? (Blah!) I had to move to San Bernadoodoo when I first moved out here from Philly. I don't do the club scene any longer but I do get to some of the concerts. What I suggest is going to those acts web sites and see where they'll be playing locally.
I had the chance to work on a few documentaries and shoot some concerts of some of these artist. My good friend Mike Dennis is the producer/director of these projects and you can check out some of finished product at Welcome To Reelblack (http://reelblack.com/about.htm - broken link)

Well good luck, it's not Philly or NYC but you'll find some things out here.

You might want to pick up an LA Weekly newspaper to see whats going on and who will be performing. Of the artists you mentioned Corinne Bailey Rae is the only one who's music I somewhat like. Saw one of her concerts on a HD Music channel on Voom and thought she was really good.
