Indeed. I missed puffle's earlier comment.

Encino is no dirtier nor cleaner than Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Tarzana or Woodland Hills. In fact all these Hollywood Hills adjacent areas are noticeably cleaner than much of the central and eastern Valley. All of these areas are more affluent, particularly SOB (south of the boulevard, Ventura Bl.), and affluence goes along with cleanness.

You just can't rank cities in the SFV. There are nicer areas and not as nice areas, but good luck making a list of them, let alone ranking them on that list. Most of our lists would be different.

Remember I did say IMO when referring to my choices and why. One's opinion of what is dirty may not be measured by the same standards as mine. I have lived in all the cities mentioned except Studio City and lived in the Valley for over 48 years. Maybe they started cleaning up the sidewalks and streets since I was last there back in June 07??

The Valley just ain't what it used to be (sigh)....but I would recommend Westlake Village or Calabasas(those are considered "The Valley" right?)

Westlake Village no, Calabasas sort of. Calabasas straddles both sides of the Calabasas grade which is the western boundary of the SFV along the 101.

I agree, and include Agoura. But not T.O. T.O. is in Ventura County, right?

Agoura is in Los Angeles County
Thousand Oaks is in Ventura County

Oak Park used to have the same zip code as Agoura (91301) even though Oak Park is in Ventura County. Oak Park has had it's own zip code (91377) since 1/1/1999.

The Ventura County/Los Angeles County line goes right through Westlake Lake.

Regarding the community that surrounds Westlake Lake: If someone lives in Ventura County, even if they have a waterfront home on the lake, then they do not live in Westlake Village, they live in Thousand Oaks. If they live in Los Angeles County, then they live in Westlake Village. There is no such thing as Westlake Village in Ventura County; It is Thousand Oaks.

One more tidbit, up until 1873, all of what is now Ventura County was Santa Barbara County. Ventura County was formed from the eastern section of Santa Barbara County in 1873.

In any case they are all nice areas, and anybody who lives there is fortunate.

You are absolutely right about this info Charles. Most haven't a clue..they should because this effects the school district you are in and the insurance you will pay. Lived in Westlake Village off Lindero Cyn and Agoura Rd. yet my insurance co. at the time considered it Ventura County and my rates were cheaper for it. Then I lived in North Ranch which most also consider Westlake Village but is really Thousand Oaks and lastly lived by the lake off Agoura Rd. and Westlake Blvd.....it is Westlake Village but some of the utilities and services consider it T.O. No comparison between the Valley and Ventura County. Calabasas is much more snotty to me than Westlake...just spend some time at the Promenade in Calabasas. I'm surprised there aren't many accidents from people walking with their noses in the air
