Default Is L.A. really that bad?

Hey, I was just randomlly looking at other forums and I decided to stop here at the L.A. forum to try to understand something.
I was just wondering if Los Angeles was really as bad as most Americans say, so I thought of maybe getting that info from Angelinos themselves. My family and I passed through L.A, going to the Bay area, so I don't really know how the city is.
Oh, and if I were to move to Cali, what would be the best place to live?

You will LOVE LA if..

A. You are in a gang
B. Love illegal aliens
C. Posess amazing patience for traffic
D. Have incredible tolerance for smog
E. Love to vandalize and tag
F. Have a few million $ in home equity

Otherwise, stay far and clear for the city of demons.

"Best" is a very interpretative word. Honestly, I can't give you the best city/town for you unless you tell me more..

LA is full of crime, pollution and traffic. I would never live there. Yuba city is pretty good, most places in far north CA is fine, although still expensive, like $200k and up for a decent house

"Best place" is a VERY relative, subjective term. What criteria are important to you?

Well I'm not really going to move there anytime soon. But if I was, where would be the cheapest place to live, what is the safest neighborhood (if there is any), and should I just move outside the city?
Really, right now, this is just a "what if" thing.

JJG, the cheapest place to live would be Compton, and most here would agree that this is not what anyone would ever want voluntarily.
CiXel, I consider Miami to be a preview of L.A. in 5 years. Is this true?
