Manhattan Beach is a very desirable town close to LAX.

Yeah not looking for a beachy bar or rowdy atmosphere. Hopefully just a good laid back mix.

The area near Douglas rail stop is an industrial, office park area. Very nice and safe area. The area is El Segundo proper and heading south across Rosecrans Blvd would be Manhattan Beach. The MB side has lots of shopping, restaurants and a upscale mall (Manhattan Village.)

This area has lots of vehicular traffic. The main streets: Rosecrans, Sepulveda and Aviation have a lot of traffic, especially during rush hours.

If you need to temporarily rely on public transport, suggest finding a place near Sepulveda Blvd (Manhattan Beach) and looking for a bus line that travels on Sepulveda towards El Segundo. Manhattan Beach is an upscale beach community and to the best of my knowledge, not a rowdy beach party town. Of course, there will be some parties.

Based on where your office is located, I would suggest buying a car. The area is not pedestrian friendly. My subjective opinion.

I worked and lived in that immediate area for years and know it fairly well.

There is no problem finding a nice apartment for <$2,400 near Rosecrans Ave where you work.

For example:

Here are bicycle routes from the work place to the apartment (20 minutes): https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Doug...33.8721339!3e1

Costco, Trader's Joe are nearby.

Here is a route to the beach (18 minutes): https://www.google.com/maps/dir/1901...33.8612058!3e1

I forgot.

Bus routes to bars in WeHo: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/1901...34.0835614!3e3

It will take just slightly less in a car; especially, when the 405 doesn't move.

That's more Hermosa Beach - Manhattan Beach is a more serene crowd.

El Segundo has a very limited level of the beach bar/rowdy atmosphere around Rock N Brews on Main Street, but the rest of town is mostly residential and keeps to themselves.

I would think El Segundo would be pretty dull for a single person. Santa Monica is not an option?

There's a bike path along the beach, so... Ride down to beach, follow bike path, come back up to LAX? (I have no idea where the LAX employees enter, admittedly.) Alternately, ride to PCH from wherever you live, put bike in front of the 232 bus, and get off the bus at LAX.

I do both for when I go to the office in El Segundo.

The Redondo Beach metro stop is somewhat misnamed, IMO. While it is technically within Redondo Beach city limits, it's at the extreme north end of North Redondo.

It looks like OP will be working in El Segundo. The commute from Santa Monica to El Segundo would be less than ideal.
