Never lived in the Valley but I've driven past El Camino HS and driven and walked past Canoga HS and if I had a kid I would not want them going to Canoga. Of course I felt safe enough walking past Canoga with all the police cars lined up in front on Topanga.

As I mentioned in DM and others have said here, El Camino is the cream of the crop for public HS in the area.

As always, good luck, tiana!

Haha. Thats a cool picture. It looked like for a split second you had him in a headlock. But i realized you were just wipin those santa monica kids out!

I actually went to El Camino Real. I used to make fun of my friends who went to Chaminade(some h.s. smack talking). But I was secretely pissed because Chaminade seemed to have a higher ratio of beautiful women.

My bad. I made a mistake about the school zoning. I meant to say I've heard its Fallbrook Ave/Sale Ave. I think up until the 80's or so..it was Woodlake Ave.
But since the increase in population..it was pushed to Fallbrook Ave.
But to dispute my own point made. I had friends who lived on Fallbrook who had to go to Canoga. Then I had some friends who lived on Shoup that showed up in El Camino.
Hmmm..Who knows

I would not move to most cities in the San Fernando Valley if I had kids. Only Chatsworth, Sherman Oaks, Woodland Hills, Granada Hills (questionable) and the newer northern communities up against the hills are safe bets. Or, going farther up the 101 freeway, Simi Valley and Westlake Village. Or farther down the 101, Burbank or Toluca Lake. The valley will continue to deteriorate as the years go by. Don't allow your kids to go to school in those other cities such as Northridge, Van Nuys, Canoga Park, Reseda, etc.

The schools north of Nordhoff St in Northridge (and Porter Ranch) have good to excellent ratings, according to the website Charles provided: (On a scale of 0-10; higher number is better)
Beckford Elementary................ 9
Castleberry Elementary............ 10
Topeka Elementary.................. 9
Calahan Elementary................. 8
Darby Elementary.................... 8
Nobel Jr. High......................... 9

And this one in Granada Hills:
Granada Hills High.................... 9
