I'll be moving to Los Angeles to start my work at USC in January and since my job is remote (I only need to visit 2 times a month), I'm wondering which city I can look for a 1B apartment considering my range is less than $2500 for a 12-months lease term. Is it going to benefit me in terms of utilities if I find a place outside Los Angeles county? There will be 3 people (me, my spouse and a toddler)

Thanks!

LOL, pretty much correct.
A 1bdrm place isn't big enough for 3 people, plain & simple. 2bd2ba minimum. And that isn't going to happen in the LA area for $2500/mo. Maybe $1200 a week though. Maybe Quartz Hill area? Or Acton?

Where do you live now? As others have stated, why not fly in once a month? LA is a very easy city to commute to. Hell, I fly in 2-3x/month after relocating (although, to be fair, we still have a place in LA).

Any reason for recommending Ann Arbor, MI? My goal is to be at a commutable distance from workplace.

Thank you. I'm in the state of Alabama right now but my goal is to be at a commutable distance from my workplace so flying once a month is not what I'm looking for.

You can find a $2,500 1-bedroom apartment almost everywhere in LA, except it will be smaller in a coastal area.

You can even live in the walking distance to USC.
Though, students are noisy and they like to smoke.

I suggest looking into Rancho Cucamonga if you only have to commute twice a month. This is a nice safe area with great shopping.

Here are some example apartments.

It will be about a 45 mile drive to USC with the typical very bad rush hour traffic. It also possible to commute by public transit to USC by taking the Metrolink train and the Metro J-Line train.

I think it is a good place for a young family if one does not mind really hot weather July - September.

Thank you, capoeira. That definitely sounds like a good option as I'm looking for something under 50 miles and I don't mind hot weather.
