Default Auto Transport

Has anyone used an auto transport for their move to LA? I'm looking for a reliable company to transport a car in August. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

What state is the pickup location, and are you looking for covered transport?

I am looking for a Carrier as well but within Calif. Surprisingly its not nearly as expensive as I thought it would be.

The car will be coming from Orlando, FL. Does it matter if it's covered or not? Except for getting dirty that is. Ultrarunner did you move it cross-country? Can you fill it with personal items? (clothes and misc. things for the most part).

I went Florida to Oakland CA... The charge was based on weight and size. I didn't have anything in the vehicle except auto related items...

I went covered because I wanted a little more protection... I've shipped open transport from Texas without problems...

I would check with the carrier about personal items... the last thing you want is to be left scrambling for alternatives at the last minute...

This isn't answering your question...But be sure to check your vehicle when it arrives. The rear tires on my F-150 were completely destroyed from SoCal to Colorado. Not sure how but it looked like the rubber was completely scraped off the tires where they rested on the transportation truck. Maybe they didn't chain it down or something and it bounced and rubbed the rubber off. They bought me new tires.

I'll be moving to LA in about 3 weeks and I found this company to be very cheap, but highly recommended: ShipMyCar.com - ProStar Auto Transport - Car Transport across the Country - Home

Tiffany and Diana are great... I found that they had the best rates as they are a transportation broker and find the best deals. But they also have good coverage. I hope this helps! Look around and see if they can be beat pricewise. If you do go with them, PM to get my name and info and maybe they will give me a referral bonus! Or whatever, it doesn't matter... I'm just happy to be moving out West finally!

In a former life, I had to arrange transport of vehicles quite frequently, and never had a problem with this firm:

AM/PM Premium Car Carrier Co.

They can quote you if you supply the info they need through their website - what they quote is what you pay.

Dependable Auto Shippers – Your Auto Transport Company – Car Shipping Quote Online
I used this company twice in the last few months. Once from Fla to LA in December. Cost me $1100. door to door. Next time was from NJ to their base in Gardena. that time it was port to port, so it was only $800. That was three months ago, so might be slightly higher with the fuel prices. Good company. Buy the extra insurance, it's worth it, just in case.

Covered is more expensive. I wasn't worried about a little rain and dirt. As far as filling car, a definate no-no. The don't want to be responsible for anything but the car. You must remove all personal items. They do a complete, check list inspection before leaving, and upon arrival
