can't see why that would be your only reason. what about your job and everything else. I to am asian and thinking about moving to LA or around the area as well. A lot of factors will have to be taken before I can even look around.

I'm Asian, and I was born and raised in the South Bay, a few blocks from El Camino. It was okay area to live in, but if you're looking for something resembling Little Osaka in West LA, you're probably not going to find it here as most Japanese are 3rd or 4th generation who can't speak Japanese. I was mugged once at gunpoint at El Camino, and the second time, the guy ran off once I showed him my pepper spray. Will you have a car? If so, I think Little Osaka might be a better choice, on Sawtelle. Rent will be higher, but the area is much more lively. You can go to Santa Monica College, where there's tons of Japanese students, many foreign students as well, and it's a much better college than El Camino. Good luck!

el camino sucks-go to santa monica city college where the japanese actually speak japanese and you have a much better chance of getting into the 4 year colleg of your choice,,lots of japanese live in Torrance..but having a japanese market won't give you the community feeling you are after...I speak better japanese than most of the japanese in Torrance and i'm not asian....

I went to ECC and loved it. This was 15-17 years ago. I paid a couple visits and it seems pretty much the same. Diverse student body.

Weather in Torrance is very marine influenced, very mild. Air is good, just stay away from the refinery on Crenshaw.
