My husband has an interview next week in LA and I'm trying to see what we could buy there, but I haven't found a very good site. Also, he would be working downtown, any ideas on best places for a family with young kids to live? Budget of about $700k for house. Thanks.

You might try Redfin or ZipRealty for online listings (I think you have to register at both). Glendale and Burbank are pretty family friendly/sedate and comparatively convenient to downtown, and you should be able to find a nice house in your price range there with a little shopping. Of course, most people here would encourage you to rent for a while before you buy to find out exactly where you'd like to live.
