Default Family moving to Hollywood needing advice on clean/safe places to live

My family is moving to Hollywood in the near future and don't know the area at all. Would appreciate some advice on SAFE/clean areas to live, we don't mind living away from the city center if the transportation is good.
Thanks!

sorry, I guess what I'm meaning is living in North Hollywood, San Fernando Valley etc. places that are a bit away from the downtown area of Hollywood. Like I said, I don't know the area or surrounding areas at all so I'm just really into finding out SAFE areas or even the bad areas so I can cross them off of my places to look list. We have young children and come from a small town so it will be a culture shock for us all.

Will you be working in Hollywood? What's your rental or purchase budget? How much space do you need? What's the longest commute you can tolerate (each way, in minutes)?

Where will you be working? Do you mean you're moving to the Los Angeles area?

where do you need to travel to work every day?

what is your housing budget?

what do you need in terms of schools for your kids?

above all else, these factors should determine where you should look for housing. there are safe places to live all over the city, so that doesn't do much to narrow it down.

(go ahead and take north hollywood off your list. it isn't very nice there, and the schools are atrocious.)

My husband is actually going to Musician's Institute for school. I am going to homeschool our kids so the school issue for my kids doesn't matter. If there is good public transportation to the school my husband doesn't mind having up to an hour commute??? Don't know if that's realistic hahaha. We're from Canada so I'm very ignorant of what to expect!!!! So I guess you can tell I need HELP! hahaha

Yes, we'll have a car and don't have a budget set up yet but have done some looking on the internet and it's looking like $1400 + is what we'll be having to look at.

I imagine you want two bedrooms? Where are you finding places for $1400.00?
