Default LA/Burbank Question.

Ok,I have been considering moving to LA. I grew up in California and am thinking about going back. I am a little iffy about the whole LA thing, I have heard some scary stories about LA. Is it as bad as people say? Is there a possibility one can get shot just walking down the street?

I have been looking at the Burbank/Toluca Lake area. Is this a good area? I have done crime statistics on the area and it seems pretty safe. Also does anyone have any info on the Los Feliz Plaza? Is it in Burbank? If not is it in a good area? I typed in a house/apartment search and it came up so Im just curious.

Thank You All.

All the places you have mentioned have been written about positively on City Data. They aren't the bad places. There are a lot of other things you need to ask questions about (housing, jobs, traffic, schools maybe).

Burbank/Toluca Lake is a great area. Good housing, good entertainment, good schools (in Burbank), etc. Los Feliz is also a great area, pricier than the Burbank area but a good place to call home.

Where do people get this idea that LA is such a dangerous place? Poster asked about the possibility of getting shot at just walking down the street. Sure that can happen if you are a gang banger walking down the street in the turf of some other gang territory, or if you happen to have the extreme misfortune of being in the proximity of that gang banger and get hit by a stray bullet. There are occasional episodes of racial profiling by gangs (i.e. latino gangs targeting all black people in there hood) but again the chances of getting caught up in this are minimal.

Sorry for the rant. Yes, move to LA. It's a great place to live and unless you are really stupid and put your self in a stupid situation a very safe place to live.
