Default Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Valley Village

Question on these nabes -

I understand these are all nice, safe places to live.

So why does a site like LA Life gives these areas such low marks for safety?
Is it because the not-so-nice streets are mixed in with the nicer ones, dragging down the score?

Can you tell me the nice schools and nabes in these areas? As far as I know Carpenter, Dixie Canyon are very good schools in nice sections. That right?

Here's a good site for referencing schools... just move the map to the area you are interested in and zoom in.

I have family that live in Valley Village. It is nice, rather expensive and my granddaughter will be starting school in September. According to my daughter and her husband, she will not be going to the public schools as they are considered substandard and not safe. Private school is going to cost them around $1500 a month. And this is for kindergarten!!! Their home is an older (60 year old) home, completely refurbished, 3 bedroom is a nice area, but they do not consider the schools to be good and/or safe.

I'm very surprised. I heard Dixie Canyon school is absolutely fine for kindergarteners. This from an employee of Carpenter School in Studio City which is also supposed to be great
