I was born and raised there, my mother still lives there. What area were you considering?? Stay out of the one ways (one way streets), definitely stay out of the area that is between Alondra Blvd and Rosecrans Ave, between Pioneer Blvd and Norwalk Blvd. If you let me know what area in Norwalk you are considering I can be of more assistance. I'm sure many will have a lot of negatives about the area, but I've been in the area for over 40 years and personally it has it's good and it's bad like any where else.

Thank you for your reply. I was considering the area around the civic center or to the east of it since I need easy access to the Metrolink Station on Bloomfield/Imperial. What about the area near Studebaker & Imperial?

The area by Studebaker & Imperial is fine. I almost bought a house near there a few years back. My suggestion to you would be to go to the areas you are interested in during the day and then come back at night and drive around. This will give you a feel for the area that you are considering and you can decide if you are comfortable with the area. Like I stated my mother lives in Norwalk and she is 84 yrs old and lives alone. She has owned the house for about 50 yrs and in that time I will admit her house was robbed once and that was over 20 years ago.

You need to see if you are personally comfortable with the area. I am, but I lived there all my life and have been in that area all of my life.

Best wishes to you on finding an area that is comfortable for you.
