Some of the hottest, most celeb filled clubs are in that area. You'll have no problem meeting girls.

The OP also asked about diversity.

I have lived in this area for several years and like it. (I assume you're talking about Wilcox north of Hollywood Blvd., which is significantly different (i.e, better) than south of Hollywood Blvd.) Everything is within walking distance -- restaurants, bars, coffee shops, theaters, gym -- and the freeway is nearby. There are girls aplenty in the area, though many do come in from other areas to party. Many of my friends are jealous that I can "walk to everything," although be sure you have a parking space because parking sucks.
Also, the new W hotel is going up nearby on Vine St., so the area is getting even better and more vibrant than it is already. I've always felt pretty safe, but if I was a single girl (I'm not) I wouldn't walk too far by myself at night. Just be aware of your surroundings. There are some homeless (who are everywhere in L.A. anyway) and, yes, some Hispanic people, but everybody I talk to agrees that the area is getting better. My feeling is that most local renters are young people here for "the biz," with a few Hispanic families and some older people who have been here forever thrown in. I may move soon, as I am kinda looking to buy and this area is still way too expensive for that. Good luck! A single person in their 20s should have fun here! |
