I would definalely rather work downtown. Century City is ok if you like boring office parks. Many more amenities, restaurants, coffee houses, grocery stores, gyms and by far much better public transportation. I guess that's why I live downtown. If you're the type to simply drive to work, park in a parking garage and drive back home after work then Century City might be for you.

I think Downtown LA has become such a vibrant place to live and work. I think it gives Lower Manhattan and the Chicago Loop a run for their money as far as culture, living spaces, and nightlife. I also like the idea of a major focal point for employment.

My opinion hasn't changed. Downtown LA is still > than Century City.

As pwright noted, Century City is essentially a boring suburban office park. It might as well be Irvine. Some people like that so to each their own. I'll also grant that for some people living close to the beach/ocean is a must have so C.C. is certainly better located for that.

Some of the replies in this thread are entertaining. Century City is where the action is? That was NEVER the case. Granted, in 2008 DTLA was still building up its now impressive base of restaurants, bars/lounges, clubs, etc.

When I think of Century City, being in a walkable friendly environment does not come to mind. Century Park east, Century Park West, Avenue Of The Stars, Constellation, probably the most boring and uninteresting streets to walk in all of Los Angeles. Not even a bench to sit on. Even where Century City residents live it's all behind locked gates. It almost seems like an office park/retirement community. No wonder the average age of its residents is the oldest in the city.

Funny, I hadn't noticed the dates until they were pointed out. I was working in DTLA at the time of the original messages, with a best friend at one of the law firms down there (and living in Pasadena).

We both enjoyed our jobs and working downtown. There was a ton to do even back then, and it was nice seeing the growth of the city.

Maybe Law Firm wise Century City is good but overall DTLA blows CC out of the water easily. CC looks good from afar-skyline wise but street level gets a F-

I wonder how much Century City will change once it actually has a rapid transit stop. I don't expect it to top Downtown LA, but it may radically improve in a short time frame. Are there any developments under construction or proposed with the station in mind that are more pedestrian friendly?
