Hey, I'm an Atlanta transplant to LA myself. And I can assure you that your opinion of LA is heavily influenced by the big entertainment industry here. I've lived here for the past 3 years, and, provided you will probably make more money here since the cost of living is higher, but you are also putting yourself/family at risk by the potential of moving into a crime-ridden neighborhood.

I visted Atlanta a few months ago. While I left Atlanta about 5 years ago, it has really grown with highrises popping up everywhere. You will not see that in LA. It's static here except new trendy restaurants and hang outs popping up ever so often.

Come for a visit, but stay in Atlanta.... but this is also from someone who's had enough of LA and looking to relocate to SF. =)
