API-wise, Jefferson and Roosevelt are where you want to be (in that order), followed by Stevenson.

I'd pass on the others...

Oh sorry - one other thing - Jefferson has a fine arts program that I understand is quite excellent (includes children's concerts at Starlight Bowl).

I should add I visited Brett Harte and it looked to be one of the nicest of the bunch, for what that's worth.

Also have a friend who is a Burbank teacher sending her child there who swears it's good.

The Burbank schools are good, but they have the same problem every good school has anywhere. They're stuck teaching a curriculum that bores most kids out of their minds. You want your kid to be a good learner? Somehow manage to get them involved in something they love. Then they will be a better learner of anything else that's put in front of them.
