How did LA gang violence turn into a race war?

60% black now 60% latino. forced out through gang action.
the obvious the lower enclave of resources, feud for who will control them.
latinos are here to stay. exclusive turf of AA is no longer a given.
many left to go to the south. atlanta houston charlston memphis some to NO.

The vast numbers of immigrant Latinos are swelling the Latino gangs giving them the upper hand. Before the '80s the browns were dead meat in black neighborhoods. Today those same blacks have been driven out to a large degree. The Latinos have won.

I don't hate 'em. I'm just sorry that the character of Southern California has been drastically changed by this undocumented migration. Until the last dozen or 20 years I had intended to spend the rest of my life here, but today LA is ruined for me, a city that can only be truly enjoyed by those rich enough to completely isolate themselves in their estates. That requires a lot more money than I have, so I get to move to some place less expensive to live out my days, and I can watch what's happening to LA on TV.

Part of what may be going is that non Hispanic Blacks are a diminishing minority here in the USA between lower birthrates, higher (although declining) death rates as well as more and more bi-racial children not as likely to self identify as 'Black'. The 'One Drop Rule' is joining Jim Crow in the dustbin of history (thank God).

Too; more and more AA's are simply moving into Middle Class areas and saying 'adios' to the traditional Black ghettoes.

From what I've heard, its happening to non Hispanic white too. Speaking of biracial children, which groups have more mixed kids than anyone, white and black people.

But yea, I've heard that blacks are moving to the LA suburbs like West LA. At my age, I'm pretty much stuck in the ghetto right now, where gangs sometimes roam. All I can hope is that I never become a victim of gang violence, racially or intra-racially.

I truly enjoy LA Lovehound and trust me I'm not anywhere near rich enough to be living in some estate. I appreciate your passion for the place and I enjoy your posts, I just don't see things as pessimissticly as you do.
