yes we have accents. we all have accents. cali accents. just like people in the northeast have accents. just like the south. texas. midwest. etc etc.

whats funny is that when i first moved to the bay, they said i spoke english like people from LA.

more specifically a mexican from LA.
what that meant???
another person said that she tought i grew up around black people?

at least they didnt say it was a "valley girl" accent.

anyhow, tho we dont notice it, we do have accents.

its not a bad thing either.

Californians live more emotionally and faster and there maybe some accent sometimes

I have lived in California for 30 years, and I'm still asked about my Chicago accent.

I think some California Chicanos who grow up around other Mexicans do have an accent, or a way of talking.

Maybe the person who thought you grew up around Black people heard that accent when she was expecting a cheesy "Blood in Blood Out" type Chicano accent, haha.

There's no doubt that people from Los Angeles and other big cities speak faster than people from rural areas. That's part of it too.
