Exclamation JPL EPA's one of the worst polluted sites in the country. Water quality and cancer risks in Altadena/Pasadena/La Canada?

I've been looking for a home in Altadena/Pas area for 5 months and yesterday I came upon this disturbing report by the EPA

http://www.epa.gov/superfund/sites/r...7090001533.pdf

I've lived in L.A. for a long time but have never heard anything about this, its a bit scary they've ONLY begun filtering the water properly around 2000...

Could someone point me towards info on cancer rates in that area? ... It's hard for me to believe NASA that everything is great now, after mercury, jet fuel, solvents and god knows what have been leeching into the ground water since the 1940's.

thanks...

What would be the source of your water? Wells? Owens Valley? Sacramento delta?

ground water near the JPL...according to Lincoln Ave Water Co...it seems

according to that 91 page report there are 2 wells located in the polluted "plume"...

It would be nice to find some independent reports, but all i've found has been NASA or NASA involved doctors...

They have the same problem (or something like it...) in Simi Valley from the Rocketdyne Santa Susana Field Lab where the Space Shuttle Main Engines and I think the Apollo Saturn V J-2 engines were tested...not sure exactly what processes caused ground water contamination but Boeing was not able to sell the SSFL to Pratt and Whitney when Boeing sold Rocketydne to them.
